The gap after the table in LaTeX

I notice that there is some kind of space after my desk. See the following snapshot:

http://i39.tinypic.com/x3e4vd.jpg

My LaTeX code:

\begin{table}[htb] \caption{Error rates VS training size in AdaBoosted stump, SVM and kNN. \label{tab:examplecount8000errerrplot}} \begin{center} \begin{tabular}{cc} \includegraphics[scale=0.4]{../boost.eps} & \includegraphics[scale=0.4]{../svm.eps} \\ \includegraphics[scale=0.4]{../knn.eps} & \\ \end{tabular} \end{center} \end{table} % \subsection{Feature Numbers}

Is the gap normal or how can I narrow the gap to be normal?

Instead of centering the tables with the {center} environment, try using the \ centering macro. I should be something like

 \begin{table} \centering ... \end{table}

If the answers and midtiby do not fix this for you, and you have to set it up (because, for example, the ladyโ€™s margin will not go through your dissertation until you do this), you can cut the lengths

  • \floatsep
  • \textfloatsep
  • \intextsep

(and their two columns) that adjust the distance between and the floats . In this case, I believe that you want \textfloatsep .

But do what Charles and midtiby first said, and think about the advice of the bears.

You can always set the vertical distance by issuing the vskip command, say \vskip{-1em} , in vertical mode, for example, before the \ section. The bears are right: a delay worrying about the layout as late as possible. There should be a saying about premature formatting ...

The table would have looked more attractive to me if the signature was at the bottom. The question of appearance will be the same as the proportion of space above and below the heading as the total amount of space.

Unsuccessful answer, as dmckee referred to it. I donโ€™t struggle with how you express content: itโ€™s better to live with unwanted space, change things in style files (at the request of dmckee), change what you want to express (for example, where there are inscriptions), or put in a clean form of tape help (e.g. vspace). Therefore, I do not like this answer, since the completion of each row of the table with \\ simplifies their support, for example, ending with C-blocks with a semicolon.

Delete the last \\ in the table environment.

You can use \raggedbottom

 \begin{table} \centering ... \end{table} \raggedbottom

try this in your tables: \setlength\belowcaptionskip{-20pt}
