If the VSS client is installed in your dev block, the VSS plugin will appear in the source plugin selection list in tools | options | source control inside Visual Studio.
VSS is terrible. Really, really bad. I mean, you might think that the asteroid that killed the aliens who lived here before the dinosaurs was bad, but it's just peanuts compared to VSS.
However, if you are stuck with it, it will essentially work with VS2010. I am in a difficult position because I want to switch to TFS, but content managers use SharePoint Designer (efficiently Expression, since we donβt have a SharePoint site). They are used to save the file and immediately view their changes on the dev server. Apart from installing Visual Studio on their machines, there seems to be no good way to leave this functionality when moving to a real version control system.
I feel your pain.
