Why duplicate the ā€œReleaseā€ configuration to ā€œDistributionā€?

Apple’s manual has a step before creating a version of the AppStore:

Open the Xcode project and Duplicate the ā€œReleaseā€ configuration in the ā€œConfigurationā€ panel of the Information Panel project. Rename this new Distribution configuration.

Why is this step necessary? Can I skip this step and use the "Release" configuration to create the final version of the AppStore?

If you save the settings for the release and configuration of the application, you can test your application built with exactly the same settings as in the AppStore, and switch to this configuration with 1 click. This may be optional, but (imo) is very convenient.

Another reason may be that during development, you can play a little with some of the project settings and be sure that your experiments will not fit into building distributions.

You can name it "DebbieGibson" as long as you remember that you have configured this configuration for distribution to the App Store.
