What do you guys recommend for testing the AIR GUI?

I would agree with Robert, Give flexmonkey a look. We use it in conjunction with Selinium to test our web application, and we had good results.

You are also looking for functional testing or GUI performance testing. What we found is a good starting point for individual analysis of GUI profiles combined with software sampling. If regression testing is what you are looking for, FlexMonkey is a good start.

If you want to test download performance between your AIR applications, our QA department is in the process of evaluating the tools and appears to be pretty positive about NeoTys suggestions.

Take care that there are some restrictions for AIR 1.x applications: (child windows are not supported in Flex 3 automation).

If you don't want to use expensive technologies such as HP QuickTest than http://www.gorillalogic.com/flexmonkey , this is a good place to start.
