Problems getting git 'server' to work on Windows

I followed Tim's article (mentioned in response to this question ), but - like many others, it seems - I'm stuck trying to make a test clone at the end. I am getting fatal: the remote end hung up unexpectedly error, although my path to $ HOME seems to be correct.

Does anyone have pointers on where I can start debugging this? My git and linux-fu are very limited ...

I know this answer on the same question, but in my case this is not applicable, I do not receive any path messages.

Just to frame my comment:

  • How can I get git and copSSH to search in the correct directory for keys? insists on double-clicking your $HOME variable
  • git click the initial wizard, the wrong port number insists on using the correct URL
  • and Impossible Git-push master for Github is a compilation of points to check if there are problems with the ssh connection.

Since you mention:

I just tried

  ssh myuser@10.10.5.74 -p 4837

which says

 Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive).

this means you need to check how you define your key (perhaps with a phrase that might be the problem here)
