Where will the rookie look for the best resources for SQL tutorials?

I am interested in both web resources and books. This is the jungle, please give me a hand.

My goal is to learn the SQL language so that I can query the Sql Server databases for several weeks.

I have a programming language and I know some basic things about relational databases, but almost nothing about how to use the SQL language.

Thanks to you ALL for all the good tips! I will save this page as a starting point in my mission to learn SQL. Unfortunately, it is impossible to establish more than one answer as “accepted” ...
