HTTP Builder / Groovy - lost 302 (redirect) processing?

Question

I read here http://groovy.codehaus.org/modules/http-builder/doc/handlers.html "In cases where the response sends a redirect status code, it is processed inside the Apache HttpClient, which by default will simply follow the redirect by resubmitting the request to the new URL. You don’t need to do anything special to follow the 302 responses. "

This seems to work fine when I just use the get () or post () methods without closing.

However, when I use closure, I seem to lose processing 302. Is there a way to handle this myself? Thanks you

You can see that there is clearly a location argument.

I had the same problem with HTTPBuilder until I realized that the status of the HTTP / 1.1 specification:

3xx redirection

[..] This class of status code indicates that further actions must be taken by the user agent in order to fulfill the request. Action required A user agent MAY be performed without interacting with the user if and only if the method used in the second request is GET or HEAD.

302 Found

[..] If the status code 302 is received in response to a request other than GET or HEAD, the user agent MUST NOT automatically redirect the request if it cannot be confirmed by the user, as this can change the conditions under which the request was sent.

Essentially, this means that a request following a POST and 302 redirect will not work automatically and will require user intervention if the HTTP / 1.1 specification is followed by a letter. Not all Http clients follow this practice; in fact, most browsers do not. However, the Apache Http Client (which is the basic Http client for HttpBuilder) is compliant . There is a problem in the Apache Http Client bugtracker , which contains more information and a possible solution to the problem.

302, because after the action on any redirected link does not follow HttpBuilder, we need to explicitly add "RedirectStrategy" .

What other headers do you see when processing response 302? If you enabled http client logging , you expect to see the HttpClient process, response 302, and automatically request the URL in the Location header. What do you see when processing this URL? Does it work on any URL?

Try http://www.sun.com (now it redirects to Oracle.) I'm just wondering if the server you're working with is something awkward, like sending 302 without a location header.
