What does “Liquid Bug: private method" gsub "called for nil: NilClass" mean in a subsequent blog?

I also ran into this error. You are probably using a liquid filter with a zero value. I had something similar on my jekyll website:

<title>{{ page.title | xml_escape }}</title> 

And on my root page the header was not set. You can fix this by making sure the value is set, or you can hack with something like this to force nil to a string:

 {{ page.title | append:' ' | xml_escape }}
