Why is VS2010 deleting my links?

In a small console application that I am writing to verify something that I need, add a link to one of the DLLs built from the assembly of another solution. The Add Links dialog works fine; after I go to the DLL on the disk and add it, I see it with a green tick and it appears in the list of links in Solution Explorer. Everything is fine so far, but when I close the Add Links dialog box, the added link just disappears from the list of links in Solution Explorer.

What's happening? Why is this happening and how can I fix it? Any ideas?

A link to a non-Silverlight DLL in Silverlight will work until the add links dialog is closed, when the links just disappear from the project’s list of links. No warning or error message is displayed.
