How to manually update the Android browser using the latest (nightly) web kit?

Is it possible to update WebKit with the Android 1.5 / 1.6 / etc browser (up to 2.2)?
I know that the latest WebKit nightly builds have excellent HTML5 support.
So, I intend to provide support for streaming video (and other functions) html5 for all of these droids.
I used to be able to update the WebKit engine on different devices with an older Safari to fit my requirements (on any Mac OS X distributions, it's as easy as updating WebKit.framework).

Not without firmware recovery, and even then you will probably have a lot of work.
