The watchdog timer on the iPhone terminates your application if it does not respond within 20 seconds. Please note that Xcode disables the watchdog timer when debugging, so you may need to test the hardware outside of Xcode to make sure that your application will actually run, however, if your application blocks the main thread for about 20 seconds, there is something in its design that is serious.
