Compilation error: [No matching source lines]

Question

I get this error when trying to view a page in my localhost. The website worked before. Code files are not precompiled. I cleaned up the asp.net temporary folders and gave full permission to manage the IIS_IUSRS account for the wwwroot and Temporary ASP.NET folders, but without changes.

I also get an "Access Denied" error when trying to execute

1. Set True " Enable 32-bit applications " for the default application pool if you are running on an x64 computer.
2. Grant full access to NETWORK SERVICE and the IIS_IUSRS group on C: \ Windows \ Temp \ and C: \ Windows \ Microsoft.NET \ Framework \ v2.0.50727 \ Temporary ASP.NET Files \

Now this should work fine.

This happened to me after repairing / updating my VS 2013 Express

First I tried to add "IIS_IUSRS" and "NETWORK SERVICE" from "Change" to the following:

 C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp\Temporary ASP.NET Files C:\local\path\to\NET_App C:\Windows\Temp C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files 

Those did not work. But then I removed optimizeCompilations = "true" from the compilation tag in system.web and everything worked fine.

I got the same error when I add .ascx and use it in .aspx , but the src path was wrong, add:

 tagPrefix="uc" src="~/Signup**d**/UserControls/CreditCheck.ascx" tagName="CreditCheck"

My solution was to grant full access to the NETWORK SERVICE user and change the permissions for IIS_IUSERS to the root folder of the ASP.NET application.

The problem was caused by the conversion of web.config. It should create a temporary file in the root folder of the application.

Zero-line behavior is usually caused by compilation with optimizations enabled (e.g. inlining). Try unchecking “Optimize code” in the “Properties - Create tab.” Then Source Error will display a violation code with line numbers.

I ran into the same problem.

My Symptom: it worked, found locally, but failed on dev / stage. I found a reason: aspx.cs used an application variable (as shown below) that was missing in web.config

public static String myKey = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings ["myKey"]. ToString ();

The reason it took me a long time to figure out the problem was because I did not expect this type of error message on line 0 (perhaps because my developer defined this variable as static, so it throws an error of line 0)
