How can I get Management Studio 2005 to copy the headers from the result sets?

By default, when copying / pasting data from the query window into SSMS, it does not copy the column headers. How can I copy these headers along with the data?

  • Open the Service .
  • Open Options ...
  • Expand Query Results
  • Deploy SQL Server
  • Expand Results to the grid
  • Check Include column headers when copying or saving results

Please note that this will only work in the New Query types, and not in the Open Tables (editable) windows.

Heading results were added in SSMS 2008. Ctrl-Shift-C also works.

You can simply right-click on the results and select "Copy with headers"
