Linux Command Line Sitemap Generator: any suggestions?

You have always been kind and helpful here. Hope you can give me some pointers too.

I am looking for a Sitemap generator that will index 100 or so pages and load / ping in google / yahoo / ping.

I did my homework for the last 2 hours looking for the network and SO, but nothing useful. I do not want to be a guinea pig in some abandoned project or new project.

PLEASE OFFER TO USE WHAT WORKS.

  • should be a command line and work with the local file system, there is no need to collect pages. give it a directory and it should create all the files under it.

  • should ping / upload to engines

  • should be simple, no need to explain too 200 pages.

Yes, I tried, search :: sitemap, but, as always, everything in perl is a bunch of a mysterious bull that does not have usability. He has pages and pages of information, but for the love of God, how does this thing scan a directory and create a file ???

Thanks so much for your time.

Maria

Crazy is late here, but try the following: http://patrickmylund.com/projects/osg/

He will not ping, but he does an amazing job of creating and updating Sitemaps.
