Should I use ruby 1.9.2 when starting a new Rails 3.0 project?

  • The application will be launched on Heroku

Dependencies include

  • clip
  • Haml
  • compass
  • Are developing
  • AWS-s3

Reasons or against? Any recommendation for a different ruby version?

The Heroku update does not currently support 1.9.2, but it is expected that it will be based on this post very soon. Rails 3.0 officially supports 1.9.2 (but not 1.9.1), so I decided to continue and use it.

Heroku update supports 1.9.2 in its beta package.

I would say yes. When you are ready to quit your application (2-3 months?), More and more compatibility issues need to be developed. In addition, if you encounter any problems, you can send corrections and contribute to faster compatibility 1.9.2!;)

But to answer your questions, given the gems you want to use, 1.9.2 is good. However, Heroku has not yet deployed 1.9.2.

I would say yes, but look at this site before doing:

http://railsplugins.org/

It lists 3 rail compatibility for gems / plugins.

I heard that ruby 1.9.2 is faster than ruby 1.9.1. Your mileage may vary.
