Memory leak on Firefox add-ons

I have an addon that is quite large and I need to understand some things ...

• What causes a memory leak in the Firefox addon?
• How can I find the cause of the leak?
• How can I fix a leak?

The addon adds some elements to the page, requests parts of the page and updates the DOM. The memory increases every time I reload the page, and the memory is not freed even after closing the tab.

Here is a Firefox extension that can capture some types of memory leaks. There is more detailed documentation on debugging leaks here , but it is a little difficult to read.
