Problem with custom listview

Question

I have a LinearLayout layout with a ListView in it. I made android: Background LinearLayout (I also tried it in ListView) is the image I need for my background.

This works quite well. However, when I start scrolling through the ListView, the background often fades and turns black. If I translate it a little more, I can make it appear again. It would seem that Android is dragging out or, perhaps, drawing what is behind my background onto elements.

Any ideas / solutions?
