Free for commercial use Google maps are equivalent to do the following?

I am looking for a mapping API that has similar functionality for google maps, but which may have something under the Apache / MIT license. I basically want to draw points on the map. Is there such a thing? If so, are there any guidelines for plotting points on this API map?
