How to avoid using the on-screen keyboard to edit EditText in android

whenever I click on EditText, the screen is rebuilt and the edittext-view moves up. But this is not enough, and the soft keyboard still closes the view so as not to show what the user is typing.

My layout is as follows:

A list occupying 65% of the screen height followed by an editetxt view and a button

LISTVIEW ______________________________ EDITTEXT |BUTTON ______________________________

The following android:windowSoftInputMode="stateAlwaysHidden|adjustPan" flag is set in my activity android:windowSoftInputMode="stateAlwaysHidden|adjustPan"

adjustPan makes the soft keyboard appear on top of your layout, blocking everything below. Instead, you'll want to use a resize that will move your EditText and Button, and reduce the ListView. If in landscape mode the ListView is reduced to unusable / meaningless, consider using a full-screen IME keyboard.
