Remap key combinations, not just the values โ€‹โ€‹of a single registry

I am really tired of pressing the shift every time I want to dial $ or # . I checked key reassignment programs such as SharpKeys and several others, but they do not support SHIFT+[key] actions. The problem is that they change the registry value for only one key (I think).

I want to flip my number keys, so when I type 4 , it prints $ , like a French keyboard. (I tried to physically rotate the key so that it flips over, but this does not work).

There must be a solution for this - can you help?

Registry hackers move virtual keys. You need a custom keyboard layout. You can create your own this tool .

In addition to the answer from @HansPassant, if you find problems with the functions ctrl + KEY, etc., you may need to manually edit the .klc file.

See https://superuser.com/questions/171307/how-can-i-restore-ctrlkey-functionality-in-microsoft-keyboard-layout-creator :

You need to manually modify the .klc file.

Basically you just change the VK_ column to match the value in column 1 .

So, for example, if you want to bind L to N , you will create a keyboard, as usual, in KLC. Then you open the KLC file in a text editor. Find the value of L in VK_ and switch it to N
