JQuery Rich Text Editor

I am currently using TinyMCE 3 on the site, but noticed that it is quite bloated (many files to download, etc.). I am working on improving website load time, etc. One of the things I want to do is to replace TinyMCE with an easier solution.

My requirements are basic:

  • Fatty
  • Italics
  • Unordered list
  • Ordered list
  • Blockquote
  • Outdent
  • Indentation
  • Cut, copy, paste (you can live without them)
  • Cancel and redo (you can live without them)

The editor is not used to create complex layouts or anything else. It is simply used in simple forms, for example, for letters and descriptions of products / services. Just very simple formatting requirements.

Finally, something posted on the Google CDN will be a big plus.

Suggestions?

You can massage a multicolor array.

Just show the icons you need and delete all the plugin folders that contain functionality that you don't need.

Delete themes / skins that you do not want.

Delete all pages related to the image / file manager.

The core is not so big.

Hallo is a fairly simple text editor created as a jQuery UI widget. MIT and should provide the features you are talking about.

I recommend http://ckeditor.com/ . I like the easy file integration with the file manager http://ckfinder.com/ . The last time I checked, TinyMCE charges a fee for most file manager plugins, or you had to hack in order for something to work.

Below is an article for some reason to try it out.
