How many results should I provide in my RSS feed?

All the information I can find regarding the creation of RSS feeds gives examples in which an undetermined number of items is returned.

This does not seem too practical, especially if I have a ton of records and a ton of customers who are idle in the survey.

Is there a magic number for the number of items I have to return? Should I just return everything I have?

I guess this depends on the type of information you syndicate, how often new elements are added, and how your audience will use them.

If it is a news channel with dozens of new entries per day, 50 or 60 can be a good number, if it is updated only several times a month or even less, 20 will be more than enough.

If this is some specialized information intended for processing by other software, a completely different number may be more appropriate.

There is no magic answer.

Just return a certain amount to you , I think, enough.

In my user interface, I have even seen feeds that return 1 (one) element. Like those that return ~ 100.

I think the number 20 is a good compromise.

In addition, you can rely on a period , not a specific number. In this case, you could submit feeds added from the last 24 hours, for example.

@Zerkms - correct IMO -> no magic number or industry standard, etc.

I feel that most people give a maximum of 20 items. If you want to be complicated, give the consumer the ability to specify the maximum number of elements in the feed URL.

 eg. http://www.yourWebSite.com/someFeed.rss?maxCount=whatever

Reaches the content you are viewing. Is it fresh / obsolete / much in a short period, etc.?
