New OSX user: opening a new terminal window in the current space (?)

I just get involved in OSX after a few years on Linux. I really like what I like, but one thing that slows me down is that if I run the "terminal" command using the shortcut / spotlight / quicksilver, it will let me go to any existing terminal in any space where it’s already open terminal.

I often like to pop up a terminal, launch an operational command, and then close it again, all the time being at any workplace that I have ever been to.

... So how do I do this on a Mac?

Download this tool called Visor.

This allows you to quickly get a tabbed drop-down terminal using a hotkey such as Ctrl-`.

Insanely comfortable to work in the shell.

Try this tool: https://github.com/nmadhok/OpenInTerminal

This is a really handy tool for Mac programmers because it allows you to open a folder directly in the terminal. You can select multiple folders to open them in several terminal windows. You can also select files to open the parent directory in the terminal. This application works with Finder, as well as without Finder, which is a plus!
