Deep Zoom collection in Javascript canvas

I need to create a deep zoom mosaic in an HTML5 canvas element with thousands of approximately 512x512 images, but I want to reinvent the wheel as little as possible.

So instead of combining tons and tons of large images into one, and then creating a Deep Zoom Image, I would rather download the images with deep zoom and create a collection of Deep Zoom, but Seadragon does not support the DZC format.

As I can see, I have three other options:

  • Start from scratch, create a viewer that is related to loading DZC files.
  • Extend Seadragon so that it can handle DZC files.
  • Create a way to analyze the DCZ file, process it with the appropriate images and turn them into a huge DZI file.

I was hoping I could get some advice here, maybe a sound recording from someone who has more experience with Deep Zoom, and the XML format that he uses to recommend, which would be the easiest and best, given that me for a limited time.

Is there a specific reason for using the HTML5 canvas element? If you just want something that works without any additional plugin, why not use CanvasZoom
