What protocol does the phone use to call home?

Which protocol does the Kindle 3 use Wi-Fi to communicate with Amazon and upload files to your kindle.com/free.kindle.com account?

I know that I can use the network sniffing software to find out, but I just need a quick answer.

This is the standard REST protocol, which is not publicly available and simplified to prevent the use of non-Kindles. Actual HTTP traffic is encrypted and requires several forms of authentication. Only official Kindles can call; the rest is hindered by the use of several methods.
