How to easily obfuscate an Android app while using IntelliJ IDEA?

I assume there are two options:

  • Create a parallel ANT script and bypass the IDE (seems pretty inefficient when the IDE is so good)

  • Somehow integrate Proguard / yGuard or similar with IntelliJ

I tried installing plugins for Proguard / yGuard in IntelliJ, but none of them work (installed normally, but does not appear under Facets), and in fact I am not 100% sure that these plugins will help me confuse or whether they are just a means to eliminate obfuscation for debugging.

I believe ANT is the best route, but would appreciate your thoughts. I just want to reduce the likelihood that someone will turn to engineering applications, but without spending hours setting it up.

I voted for the 1st option - write ANT script. This has the advantage of being independent of the IDE, even a build server can easily run it.

You can only open a project in Eclipse by creating a new project from existing sources. The two IDEs interact well with each other. Many teams use both and go back and forth between them.
