How to disable logging in monit

Question

Hey, We have a setting in monit, thanks to which we track a lot of log files for the Exception line. When monit sees this line, we receive an email notification.

There are times when we receive spam very much, when our application falls into the same exception many times.

One solution would be more reasonable in the way we register exceptions, but sometimes it is not always obvious where this type of “frequently repeated” exception may occur until it becomes too late and we are spammed.

I wonder if anyone knew of any monit warning throttling method. For example, if the same exception occurs more than 5 times, stop the warning for a date period.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This was fixed in Monit 5.4:

Monit 5.4 or new sends only one warning in this loop, changelog excerpt:

- 8 <- * Content compliance test now dispatches one event per loop and pattern. Even if multiple lines match the same pattern, only one event will be generated. Also, the frequency of events is fixed now, so you can require a match for X cycles before the event is generated. --8 <-

Systems with older packages may find an updated version in a third-party repo. eg:.
