Digg rating with Lucene / Solr?

I use Solr to search.

I have documents that have an integer field "popularity".

I want to rank the results using a combination of the usual full-text search relevance and popularity.

This is similar to a digg search - the result rating is based on the relevance of the search, as well as how many messages there are.

I do not have a special ranking algorithm. But what can you do with solr?
