Myth Kids WPF

This question has been posted before, but I cannot find a good answer.

I want MDI children in my WPF application. And I want these children to be fully compatible with WPF.

.Net WPF no longer has MDI children (windows in the main window). Some say that design is outdated, and graphic applications should not be designed that way. These people may refrain from responding to this post. I know what I need. :)

What (preferably free) alternatives exist for MDI WPF? Will they work with MVVM?

EDIT: PEOPLE - Do not vote for comments that say: "MDI IS NOT GOOD." I specifically asked people to avoid this. I am asking for MDI windows, not MDI windows.

EDIT: I just saw you ask a question. Therefore, I think you already know about it.

I understand that you don’t want to hear this, but MDI mainly aimed at duplicating the desktop metaphor in the main application window, and that it was a bit confusing for end users, since it included several levels of window control:

Technology: Now click the Maximize button of the active window inside another window, you just restored to normal size, and everything should be in order.

Client: What?

Tab interfaces are generally considered the best alternative to MDI. You can use the TabControl class and read Josh Smith's MVVM article in MSDN Magazine , which demonstrates how to place your views in TabItems .
