Rowspans and colspans in html email

Is it safe to use rows and spans when developing tabular HTML emails?

I was told that they do not display correctly in Outlook 2007 and that the tables must be nested in order to provide cells of different sizes for the layout.

Can anyone help or provide any links? Thanks

Valves are usually safe to use. Stay away from the ranks.

Your best option is to nest a new table in the cell instead of doing rowspans or colspans.

The problem is that BlackBerry Browser 4.2 does not support nested tables. http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/deliverables/1143/browser_devguide.pdf p. 42.

Table: The browser supports tables. Users can enable HTML table support to correctly display tables that match within the width of the device’s screen. Larger tables ar e split from each other with table cells displayed in vertical sequence. Tables cannot be nested. You must carefully test the tables in the BlackBerry Br owser to make sure that they are displayed appropriately on the device.
