How to sniff iphone network data

I recently had problems with my application, and I need to view the data sent to my iPhone. I read about Paros and downloaded it, but I don’t know what information I need to insert into paros and my iPhone for it to work. I am starting a typical installation of Windows 7 without the current proxy server, and my provider is telus with a package of fiber optics. So, what do I need to install and where can I find all the information needed to read the data sent over the network to my iPhone using passwords?

I do it a lot. I do this using a MacBook, but I'm sure you can use a similar method to do this from windows:

  • Connect your PC to a wired Ethernet cable to the outside world.

  • Install your computer for sharing over the Internet. (This is a big thing that will work differently between Mac and PC.) Set up sharing a wired connection with people from your Wi-Fi connection. Then your computer will become a wireless access point.

  • Connect your iPhone to use your PC as a WiFi network.

  • Download and run Wireshark (Open Source - Public) on your PC. Wireshark will sniff and record network traffic.

Then you can configure all the rules that you would like to limit the network trace to only on your iPhone.

Like I said - I do this all the time using the MacBook, and it's easy and affordable!
