What html is supported in Jenkins job description

You can use Html tags in the job description. I have something like:

blabla.. on <a href="http://vms029/wa_shdw" target="_blank">http://vms029/wa_shdw</a> 

But target="_blank" seems to be clearing something. Is there another way? Any document on what is supported and what is not?

Jenkins allows you to use different markup languages ​​to write job descriptions; plugins can determine how the description should be processed through the MarkupFormatter interface.

By default, RawHtmlMarkupFormatter used, which applies the HTML sanitation policy (from the OWASP AntiSamy Project ) - Myspace Policy .

In the Myspace policy, you will see that only certain tags and attributes are allowed. target not one of them, so you see it devoid of your input.

In your case of using an alternative, install and configure another markup formatting plugin or write it yourself. Here are some examples:

• Escaped markup plugin : escapes all HTML tags (maybe not so useful for you)
• "Anything Goes" Formatter : allows any HTML input in general (with associated security risks)
• PegDown Formatter Plugin : allows you to write descriptions in Markdown (probably the nicest option here, but probably doesn't support things like target="_blank" )
