Sub-site in IIS - ASP.NET

I have an asp.net site in IIS that is available on the Internet as www.xyz.com. Now I have been asked to prepare another website, which can be accessed through www.xyz.com/abc.

To do this, do I need to create a virtual directory under the XYZ folder of the website in IIS? or is there any other way to achieve this.

You need to make the subdirectory an IIS application.

Keep in mind that internal applications like yours will inherit configurations from the topmost web configuration, so be careful when clearing the settings you don't want in child applications.

Yes, the virtual directory will work, however, note that if abc is a fully functional application, you will need to add it as an application not as a virtual directory
