Can I use pasteur at the production site?

I am trying to configure Mediacore (which is a Pylons application) on a production server. The docs suggest apache mod_fastcgi or mod_wsgi as a web server, but I try to avoid apache at all costs because it is a RAM-monger. Mediacore, on the other hand, works great when I use it with pasteur, so I wonder what pros and cons just ignore apache and use pasteur as my web server for production?

As your load grows, you can fall within the limits of the CPU or database. A typical answer is to use multiple parallel backends. Then nginx or lighttpd or any other lightweight HTTP server will come in handy, which will allow you to distribute the load to several server pastors and cheaply serve static files.

Until then, it will probably only be safe for you to run pasteur, especially if you have a redundant processor to spend time on static files.
