How to debug WCF service?

I am creating a WCF service in which mobile devices (Iphone and Android) and websites can connect to the service. I hosted my service on IIS7 and my IDE is VS2010.

When Iphone connects to my service and calls a specific function in which I placed a breakpoint, the visual studio does not stop or does not switch to a breakpoint. I tested it using the web client and there was no problem debugging and adding a breakpoint.

I used WebInvoke in my wcf service. My configuration contains this line <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0" /> , both in the client and in the service.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Best,

When starting the WCF service in IIS7, you need to connect your debugger to the w3wp.exe process from an instance with administrator rights. If you have long forgotten the debugger before calling the service from your phone, most likely the process has been completed and your debugger is no longer connected.

If so, you can always change the settings for the conditions of use in application pools so that the process remains alive for a longer time.
