TFS - Can I associate a shelf with a work item? Automatically? (And more)

Hmm, I think the question itself is pretty straightforward ...

In Team Foundation 2010, can I somehow associate shelves with a work item?

If so, is it possible to automatically create this link when the developer shelf is associated with the corresponding work item?

We work with a large number of shelves, after a while this can become messy, so the request for our incomplete work items and knowledge of the shelves associated with this task will speed up the work.

Is it possible to change the state of a work item every time I postpone my work and link the work item?

Last but not least, is it possible to query all work items related to shelves? (Assuming we can tie them together)
