Make invisible (display: none) cells count to colspan

Just wondering. Also, does this apply the same in browsers?

eg:.

<table><tr> <td>asdf</td> <td style="display:none;">asdf</td> <td>asdf</td> </tr></table>

does colspan == 2 or 3?

This is colspan=2
