Force Channel polling API

I hope Moishe sees this: in development mode, the api-channel client (javascript) resorts to polling ... and uses a very fast polling rate. After I leaned out, I found that if I installed

goog.appengine.Socket.POLLING_TIMEOUT_MS = interval;

I can control the level of polling. I am wondering:

  • How to find out when / when a client is going to switch to the "survey mode" during the production process?
  • Is it possible to force the client to enter the "polling mode"?
  • What happens if I get a channel quota for my application? will / _ah / channel / endpoint just stop working at all? or does he resort to a survey?

-Thanks

Answers:

  • The client will never enter the polling mode in production. The implementation is completely different in the products.

  • See above

  • The call to the create_channel () function will fail, and you will not be able to get more tokens. Existing tokens (and therefore channels) will work until they expire.

Hope this helps!
