Problem installing Coldfusion 9 with IIS7

Server Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit, CF9 64-bit, IIS7, ISAPI extensions and filters, and compatibility with metabase II6. OS is in C mode by default and is trying to set CF to D:

Testing IIS and it shows index.html correctly from c: \ inetpub \ wwwroot at http: //localhost/index.html

Then I install CF in D: \, the standard server license, select start with all IIS sites, select C: \ inetpub \ wwwroot as the root for the administrator for the administrator, and when it gets to the bit where it should open the administrator to complete the installation , it opens a browser with a 500 error.

Now, when I go back to http: //localhost/index.html , I also get a 500 error, if I delete CF, I can go to the html page again.

CFIDE is installed correctly in C: \ inetpub \ wwwroot. Can someone tell me where I'm wrong, please.

I am humbled to admit this, but the problem is that what I thought was the 64-bit cf9 installer was 32-bit.

@Dave and @CfSimplicity many thanks for your help, and in particular the material of the IIS user account has become a new training for me.

There is a Enable 32-bit applications option in the Application Pool> Advanced Settings section. Set this to True and you will get access to the CFIDE> Administrator page.

I would suggest trying to restart first. This is one of those things that after the fact sounds so obvious, but you never think about it. I know that I had problems installing CF in IIS, and I had to restart the server in order to start it.

Try checking the file system permissions for this folder:

D: \ ColdFusion9 \ runtime \ lib \ wsconfig

The account used by IIS requires reading, executing, and changing permissions in this folder and below.

Perhaps this is due to two problems.

1) you have not installed CGI, ISAPI extensions and ISAPI filters are not yet installed in the server manager web server (IIS).

Window 2008 R2 with Coldfusion

2) you need to enable 32-bit application in IIS7.

I tried a different approach with my Windows 7 Home Premium - see http://coldfusioner.blogspot.com/2011/12/fix-number-1-installing-64-bit.html

It seems that I was successful using the IIS Connector batch scripts manually, and then to create a second default website after installing the handlers. The link to my article above shows the steps I took - a very raw article and will probably be updated as I hear from others how they adapted my approach. The important thing is that it worked; >) I hope this helps others ...

The problem may be that your application pool, which is part of your site by default. You can configure the launch of 32-bit applications. Try setting Enable32bit to false in the defaultapppool of your IIS server, restart the application pool and your www service. Then try using the ColdFusion wsconfig tool to add an IIS mapping. It should work even without installing cf 9 updater 1 on the server.

To avoid error 500 when you first access the administration console when installing ColdFusion 9 on a Windows 2008 server with IIS 7.5 installed, include in the user group "IIS_IUSRS" with "Full Control" to \ Lib \ wsconfig in the Enterprise folder or in the \ runtime \ lib \ folder wsconfig in a standard server. Before you install ColdFusion, make sure that the IIS 6 Management Compatibility features are installed, especially the IIS 6 metabase compatibility feature.

Assuming that you are using the default installation paths (C: \ JRun4 for Enterprise or C: \ ColdFusion9 for standard), take a step-by-step approach:

Start the ColdFusion installer as an administrator. When the initial installation process is complete, but before accessing the online administrator console, complete the following steps:

1.) From the "Start" menu, select "Computer"

2.) In Enterprise install, go to C: \ JRun4 \ lib. For a standard installation, go to the C: \ ColdFusion9 \ runtime \ lib folder.

3.) Right-click "wsconfig" and select "Properties" to open the wsconfig properties dialog box.

4.) Click on the "Security" tab.

5.) Click "Edit" to change permissions for this folder.

6.) Click "Add ..." to add a new user / group.

7.) Enter "IIS_IUSRS" in the "Object Name" field and click "OK" to return to the "Permissions" dialog box.

8.) In the Permissions dialog box, make sure the IIS_IUSRS group is highlighted and click Full Control in the Allow column, then click OK to close the dialog box. Make sure that changing permissions affects all files and folders in wsconfig.

9.) Click OK to close the wsconfig properties window.

Return to the ColdFusion installer wizard and continue the installation by clicking on the ColdFusion admin link. If the settings are correct, after a minute or two a web browser should appear with the ColdFusion admin console so that you can complete the installation.
