How to withdraw bank statements from websites?

I need to withdraw bank statements from various sources. I would like this data to be standardized, be it CSV or OFX or XML or something else. I just need to get this data. I will use my own account to capture transactions, so there should not be too many "legal" problems. How do sites like Mint.com get bank statements? They simply request information about your account, URL, and then they are turned off and working. How can i do this?

Write a screen scraper in your favorite language to do this. Automate it.

Typically, banks give you access to up to three months of transactions through their online services.

Remember to press the panic button when the rattle of the screen fails.

The main thing is to automate it so that the pain (by running it manually) disappears, so that all you see is "constantly" updated transactions of your accounts.

If you are interested in a simple, personal solution, one simple way would let Mint fill all your purchases and use an existing scraper to load them. Something like this: https://github.com/mrooney/mintapi .

I read a comprehensive technical article about this a while ago, however, I cannot find it. From my memory, this is what the mint does to get data from your bank:

Take transactions and save them in CSV XLS for conversion to OFX and / QIF using iCreateOFX Basic v4 or try v5 beta .

Other main things you can consider are Plaid (a more commercial product, but it looks really good) And https://www.buxfer.com , which has a free api. The mint has recently complicated scrapers.
