Change GitHub Account Username

I want to change the account username on GitHub, but I cannot find how to do this. Is it even possible? To clarify, I'm not talking about the user.name parameter in the git repository, but about the user of the actual GitHub account.

Yes it is possible. But first, read What happens when I change my username?

To change your username, click your profile picture in the upper right corner, then click Settings . On the left side, click Account . Then click Change username .

Yes, this is an old question. But this is misleading, as this was the first result in my search, and both answers are no longer correct.

You can change your Github account name at any time.

To do this, click your profile picture> Settings > Account Settings > Change Username .

Links to your repositories will be redirected to new URLs, but they must be updated on other sites, because whoever selects your abandoned username may override the links. Links to your profile page will be 404'd.
