How to open console window in Eclipse?

I accidentally closed the console window in Eclipse and now I cannot see the result of my code execution.

How do you open it again?

In the menu bar Window β†’ Show View β†’ Console. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut:

  • Mac: Option - Command - Q , then C or
  • Windows: Alt - Shift - Q , then C

the only solution for me was:

click on the window-> close all prospects (you can try also close the perspective)

after that in the upper right corner click: open perspective-> resource

Just open a window (in the eclipse IDE) β†’ click on Reset Vista. It worked for me.

The Trim Stack is a vertical icon bar that should appear, if not already, on one side of the main window. Back when this answer was originally written, it was on the left side (from which I had a screenshot, which, unfortunately, was uploaded to some place to insert the image, not in Stack Overflow, and then linked to since then was lost). Currently, I do not really like the eclipse user. I don’t know if this is so.

It contains icons for each pivot window, which is minimized, so if none of them are minimized, there is no trim stack. Try to minimize the Explorer / Package Navigator window and you should see it. You can then click the Restore icon (overlapping squares at the top) in the cropping stack to return the window.

BUT - and this is consistent - sometimes with Eclipse Juno, when the window with the Console, etc. minimized, and there is no trim stack, the trim stack does not appear, and using the "Show view" does nothing. About how I found this to minimize some other window, then the trimmer stack will appear and the console icon will appear (blue and white square of the monitor). Click this, and console, etc. Will appear in a popup window. Click the Restore icon in this pop-up window and it will again become part of the main window.

I also deleted my eclipse console by mistake, but for me it was best to type β€œconsole” in the β€œQuick Access” box to the right of the menu, and that brought it back! I am running version 4.2.1, not sure if this Quick Accessbox is available in other versions.

  • Open eclipse
  • Click Window
  • Go to Show view
  • Click Console
  • Minimize it or drag it to the bottom and it will be split between the console and other screens.

In eclipse, click on the window> show view> console. This is it. You are configured to use the console. Happy crack.

The only reliable way to open it is Window -> Show View -> Other -> Search "console". There were several suggestions on this post, and none of them work! Obviously, Eclipse loves to change its logic every second.

Also, resetting the view is the worst thing to do, because in this way you lose everything you have ever done to change the layout, so it probably won't work for most readers.
