Watchkit AppIcon - a set of application icons called "AppIcon" had no applicable content

The WatchKit application has an Images.xcassets file. As soon as I put any icon in the assembly of this resource with the error message: "The set of application icons with the name" AppIcon "had no corresponding content."

This is an easy way to generate your WatchKit badges that worked well for me:

  • Download the original image at http://makeappicon.com
  • Go to Image.xcassets in the WatchKit app.
  • Right-click on the panel that includes AppIcon, select "Import ..." and select the watchdog folder that you created makeappicon.com.

Most likely, your watchKit app icons are not the right size. You need the following sizes

(these are all in pixels) 48 x 48 55 x 55 58 x 58 80 x 80 87 x 87 88 x 88 172 x 172 196 x 196

Basically all the numbers that you see below in the Images.xcassets section, you need to double them, since they should be a retina display.

In my case, I generated images with the required sizes from Sketch. Then I dragged the png files into the spots. No complaints from Xcode. My application does not use a clock set.

However, the crash occurred with the error: "The app icon set named" AppIcon "had no applicable content." There were also warnings about incorrect image file sizes. Not sure how Sketch did it, but I came back and reconfigured the export from Sketch, checked the exported sizes, dragged the new files back to the application icons in Xcode. This time was successful.

Moral, if you see this error message, double-check the image size.

Allows you to write it to the lazy mode of the light version, all the other answers drive me crazy. I hope others follow.

Step 1: AppIcon was empty

enter image description here

Step 2: want to add an icon

so from AppIcon> in line1, col1 to 2x> I drag and drop the following invalid image:

enter image description here

which had the actual size as below:

enter image description here

Step 3: when I built the compilation, it failed.

Step 4: after the search

I found that for 2x, the image size should be 40 pixels by 40 pixels, so I changed this image to 40 pixels by 40 pixels from this invalid value.

Step 5: Info.plist added the entry as shown below.

This time the build / compilation worked, and in my iPhone 7 I got a new icon.

Make the icon 120 * 120 and drag & drop This works for me.

Go to the MakeAppIcon website, download the AppIcon image. It automatically generates all resized images, gives your mail id and receives a zip file. And make sure that when loading into Assets.xcassets you used OPT very clearly for an image 2 or 3 times in size depending on your requirement.

I solved the problem!

I initially selected the Apple Watch checkbox in Xcode 6 and worked very well. However, I got the same error in Xcode 7 without changing anything. My solution is to select the CarPlay checkbox and add two square icons with 120px and 180px for CarPlay. Now I can start my watch finally.

However, it cannot be accepted for shipping to the Apple Store ...
