Slack URL for opening a channel from a browser

This iTunes URL will open the Galaxy Hitchhiker's Guide in your iTunes:

itmss: //itunes.apple.com/us/audiobook/hitchhikers-guide-to-galaxy/id315596797

This Spotify URL will open ALL with Descendents in Spotify:

Spotify: track: 22feF2sbtGydtvx1OeLSih

Does Slack have a URL scheme to open a #channel in a Slack app by reference?

I want to put a link to the site of my team, which can link to the Slack # channel that we use for use by other people in the company.

URI for opening a specific channel in a Slack application:

slack://channel?id=<CHANNEL-ID>&team=<TEAM-ID>

You will probably need these Slack API resources to get the identifiers of your team and channel:

Of course you can:

Https: // & l; organization & gt; .slack.com / messages / & l; channel & gt; /

for example: https://tikal.slack.com/messages/general/ (of course, in order to access it, you must be part of the team)

Link to the channel in the conversation

To create an interactive link to a channel in the Slack dialog, simply enter # and then the name of the channel. For example: #general .

# mention of a channel

To get a link to a channel through Slack UI

To share the external URL of the channel, you can get a link to it by pressing and holding the Control key (Mac) or by right-clicking (Windows) on the channel name:

grabbing a channel's URL

The link will look like this:

 https://yourteam.slack.com/messages/C69S1L3SS

Please note that this link will not change even if you change the name of the channel. Therefore, it is better to use this link rather than a link to the name of the channel.

To create a URL for a channel based on a channel name

 https://yourteam.slack.com/channels/<channel_name>

Opening the above URL from the browser will launch the Slack client (if available) or open the channel in the browser itself.

Create URL for direct message channel (DM) for user

 https://yourteam.slack.com/channels/<username>

you can use

slack: //

to open the Slack desktop application. For example, on mac, I ran:

open slack: //

from the terminal and it opens the application for Mac Desktop Slack. However, I did not find a URL that should be used to open a specific command, channel, or message.

When I tried the yorammi solution, they took me to Slack, but not to the channel I specified.

I was more fortunate:

Https: // & l; organization & gt; .slack.com / messages / # & l; channel & gt; /

and

Https: // & l; organization & gt; .slack.com / messages / & l; channel & gt; / detail /

Although both of them were still displayed in the browser window, and not in the application.

We followed directions to the tee to open channels and direct messages. We have seen different levels of success, but this does not seem random. For example, the following href value opens a message (view) for this window:

slack: // user command = T40Qxxx & ID = U40Vxxx

It always works for this user and others, but it never works for other users in our team. We were not able to understand the differences between working users and non-working users.

Witnessed the same w / channels. There must be a reason, because the results seem very repeatable, but it’s not obvious why some users / channels cannot be deeply connected with the application, while others can.

Like most subjects, Slack documentation does not affect this behavior. In general, you will find that the Slack documentation is well formatted, but it really lacks what actually happens in practice. Like a 1980s textbook that still lists Pluto as a planet.
