Visual Studio 2010 default zoom level

Is there a way to set the default zoom level in Visual Studio 2010? The problem is that the font size 10 is too small, but the font size 11 is too large. It so happens that a 90% zoom level with a font size of 11 gives the ideal size I'm looking for. I would like VS to automatically scale up to 90%.

The VSCommands Lite extension does this, judging by this blog post .

I do not think there is a way to do this otherwise than using / writing an extension; macros do not have access to zoom controls.

If you want to write your own custom extension for this, you'll probably be looking for an IWpfTextView interface.

Another good option is the Zoom Presentation .

You can also use the keyboard. Default Links:

  • ctrl + shift + . (increase)
  • ctrl + shift + , (decrease)

As far as I know, you cannot set a default value for the zoom level. Instead, consider setting the default font size for a text editor.

As pointed out by richardwb VSCommands 10 has this option, it is free and will control the default zoom level for all open documents.

Zoomexample

Clarification: VS Commmands does not seem to set a default value for increasing% when Visual Studio is first opened. But it does a good job of preserving all the defaults% by default after I manually set it once on one document. Since I keep VS myself open for a long time, this gives me most of what I need.

I recommend this extension: http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/6a7a0b57-7059-470d-bcfa-60ceb78dc752?SRC=VSIDE

"This extension creates a global scale, so if you zoom in on one window, all instances of the editor will be updated to this zoom level."

I understand that this is a little outdated ...

But if someone meets this as I do, I use Visual Studio 2012 and just tried this extension: https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/6e3d9e23-8083-4ce3-8ca2-af846c93ad2b

It sets the default scale to 91%, which is perfect! Each file that I open automatically is 91%. So, I thought that I would drop it for everyone who needs it. I had to go through some that didn't work, unfortunately.

This extension works great for me:

http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/6a7a0b57-7059-470d-bcfa-60ceb78dc752

Increase submission

This extension creates a global scale, so if you zoom in on one window, all instances of the editor will be updated to this zoom level.

TroutZoom is my favorites and works great with VS2013!

A simple extension that synchronizes zoom levels in windows and VS 2012 and 2013 sessions. You can zoom in and out using the scroll wheel

NB I also tried extensions

  • PresentationZoom
  • Global zoom level
  • AutoZoomer

and just

  • font size settings in VS options
  • window scaling
  • Screen resolution

Global zoom level extension is also very good

This extension forces the selected zoom level in the editor window to be applied globally across all (scalable) editor windows. The zoom level is saved and reloaded through the sessions, so each time you start Visual Studio, you do not need to manually reset it.

I think Ctrl + Scroll zooms in Visual Studio. Each time you open it, you can simply press a key and click the mouse wheel. I bet you can also write an extension that does this ... Although I never wrote a Visual Studio extension, so I really don't know what the APIs offer.
