Any fast emulator for Android? Pain in development using default emulator for Android

Slow Android Emulator

Is there a fast and efficient Android emulator? I'm tired of the default android emulator. Thanks

UPDATE 2: Genymotion is excellent, as BlueStack App Player now forces you to install some applications to continue using the free version. I tried Genymotion and am quite pleased with the speed of application development, have not tried playing games yet. Happy coding :)

UPDATE: BlueStack App Player is the best, and your world will be much easier. I recommend everyone download and test it now. You will thank me later :). To use it with eclipse, just use this command on the command line.

adb connect 127.0.0.1

and after that you can run apk on your fast and awesome emulator right from your eclipse. It works on Windows and MAC .

You can speed up the emulator using hardware acceleration .

In order to make the Android emulator run faster and be more responsive, you can configure it to take advantage of hardware acceleration, using a combination of configuration options, specific Android system images and hardware drivers.

To use virtual machine acceleration you need

  • x86 AVD
  • which supports virtualization extensions
  • Android SDK Tools, version 17 or higher

and to set up graphics acceleration you need

  • graphics processing unit (GPU)
  • Android SDK Tools, version 17 or higher
  • Android SDK Platform API 15, version 3 or higher

See Android documentation - Using hardware acceleration - instructions for setting up your system.

You can quickly download the emulator using the emulator snapshots option. You can also use the Genymotion emulator , which is much faster than Android.
