Favicon not showing in Webkit browsers

I am having trouble placing an icon on my site.

I have this code

<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/ico" href="img/favicon.ico"> 

And for some reason, Firefox shows that the favicon icon is great, but it is not visible in Webkit browsers. I tried Google Chrome and Safari on Mac and did not show it; do i need to do something for these browsers?

Try setting the relative path and change the type to "image / x-icon":

 <link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="/img/favicon.ico" /> 

Or just put it in the root:

 <link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="favicon.ico" />
