Which of the cygwin mirror sites is complete?

I noticed gross inconsistencies in the cygwin mirror sites. The packages you install by default depend on the mirror you select. Even worse, some sites lack important packages, so you cannot improve the default installation.

My default cygwin installation from sourceware.mirrors.tds.net did not include diff or svn commands. When I returned to my mirror site (using setup.exe with the Internet option), package packages and subversion packages for diffutils were not even available on this site. The mirror cygwin.mirrors.hoobly.com had both of these packages, and based on the full listing, it seems that it has many more packages that are not available in sourceware.mirrors.tds.net.

Is there a cygwin website that is authoritarian, or has it hit and missed Cygwin sites?

Getting the standard and full versions of cygwin released by the versions would help to solve this problem, but cygwin does not release the default or full versions.

This should not be a big problem (anymore). Below the list of mirrors on this page it is said that each mirror is automatically checked at regular intervals, and servers that are not in the package are temporarily removed from the list. It also states that all mirrors should be synchronized twice a day. I manually checked several mirrors just now, and they all recently synced and seemed to have the same content.

You will probably want to see this announcement from the mailing list that came out today. This may explain the problems you saw.

I recommend subscribing to the cygwin-announce mailing list if you are using cygwin. You can subscribe at the bottom of this page .

However, I found kernel.org, as a rule, pretty good.
