Windows 8 comes pre-installed with the .NET Framework 2.0; however, it is not enabled by default. To enable the .NET Framework 2.0, go to Control Panel - Programs - turn Windows features on or off and check the .NET Framework 3.5 box. Note that the .NET Framework 3.5 includes the .NET Framework 2.0.

Windows is not a .NET Framework vehicle . You should be prepared for the fact that the version of the .NET Framework that you need is not yet installed.
