How can I use org-mode to track time without repeating tasks?

I have been using org-mode for about a year to track tasks and time. My main goal is to manage the tasks (which are expected, which are executed when the work was done), and also create a weekly report that summarizes my time.

I use a very simple approach. I have a hierarchy of structure with a month at the top, then a week, and then every day I create my tasks. I have a monthly table clock report setting using the thisweek property, so at the end of each week I get a report that I can use to populate my timecard.

It looks something like this:

* November #+BEGIN: clocktable :maxlevel 5 :block thisweek :scope tree1 :link t #+END: clocktable ** Nov 5 - 9 *** Nov 5 **** admin, email CLOCK: [2012-11-05 Mon 14:28]--[2012-11-05 Mon 16:23] => 1:55 CLOCK: [2012-11-05 Mon 13:31]--[2012-11-05 Mon 13:36] => 0:05 CLOCK: [2012-11-05 Mon 13:20]--[2012-11-05 Mon 13:22] => 0:02 CLOCK: [2012-11-05 Mon 09:11]--[2012-11-05 Mon 09:14] => 0:03 CLOCK: [2012-11-05 Mon 08:03]--[2012-11-05 Mon 08:08] => 0:05 **** TODO Fix scrubber to work with any environment **** DONE Remedy Training CLOCK: [2012-11-05 Mon 08:30]--[2012-11-05 Mon 09:11] => 0:41 **** TODO Improve label creation parsing **** DONE CM Deploy: 8177529 CLOCK: [2012-11-05 Mon 08:08]--[2012-11-05 Mon 08:21] => 0:13

This works fine, but if the tasks take one day, I need to create a new task the next day, otherwise the time table will not be created correctly (even if moving the task β€” along with its recorded time β€” by the next day).

Now I'm starting to study the agenda because it seems more powerful and elegant, but I have a problem with the same problem - what if I have a task scheduled for one day, but I don’t finish so I need to move it the next day?

This seems to be a fairly common situation, but I did not find anything on SOF or on the Internet for this. Maybe it's that simple, am I just doing something wrong? Even my uber link for practical daily use of org-mode, Organizing your life in plain text doesn't seem to affect this.

I try to achieve two things: 1) you do not need to re-enter the task within a few days if I do not finish it, and 2) get an accurate weekly report (at the daily level), which is not double counting or erroneous time.

Can anyone make an offer?
